SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn., March 28 /PRNewswire/ – At its winter quarterly meeting, the BRS (OTC Bulletin Board: BRSI) board of directors elected board member, Robert L. Nelson to serve as Chairman of the Board. The five-man board passed the decision unanimously.

Nelson joined the BRS board in 1993. He is the president of Robert L. Nelson and Associates, a consulting firm specializing in aviation. In addition to being a private pilot with instrument rating, his past experience in aviation includes positions with Cessna Aircraft Company, Rockwell Aviation Corporation, Grumman American, and Grumman Corporation. With American National Bank of St. Paul, he was Senior Vice President of lending with an aviation emphasis as well as past president and founder of the National Aircraft Finance Association.

Mr. Nelson’s work outside of aviation includes serving on the executive board of the Twin Cities (Minn.) Salvation Army. Mr. Nelson is a member of the Woodbury Economic Development Authority and an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).

Mr. Nelson adds a great deal of business experience to our board and we are very pleased that he is willing to accept the role and responsibility of Chairman, said Mark Thomas, BRS President & CEO. His extensive background in aviation is a perfect fit with the directions of BRS at this time, Thomas added.

Mr. Nelson, 56, will work closely with Mr. Thomas as BRS broadens its product line to include general aviation aircraft. Until the last few years, BRS has been focused on the recreational aircraft market but as the company moves further into larger aircraft, Nelson’s experience and many personal contacts within the general aviation community will prove very valuable to BRS.

Since the early 1980s BRS has delivered over 15,000 parachute systems to aircraft owners around the world. Actual documented uses of these systems are credited with saving the lives of 132 persons through the end of January, 2000. BRS is also the producer of the first-ever parachute system installed as standard equipment on the Cirrus Design SR20 four-seat aircraft; Cirrus is a Duluth, Minnesota-based airframe manufacturer. BRS is a publicly-traded company based in South St. Paul, Minnesota. (Computer searches: use the stock symbol BRSI). Further information is available on the company’s web site.
