BRS gets award

Ventures Award Given to BRS as One of Minnesota’s Best-Performing Public Companies

SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn., May 30 /PRNewswire/ –

BRS, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BRSI or BRSI.OB) – Ventures magazine set out to rank Minnesota-based public companies with under $50 million in annual revenues. When the analysis was done, BRS, Inc., qualified as one of the state’s impressive young companies on a fast growth track. The effort to spotlight promising smaller companies was the publication’s first evaluation and it was enthusiastically embraced by the fifty finalists who attended a gala event in late May, 2001.

Companies were ranked according to five criteria: earnings, revenue percent change, revenue dollar change, stock change, and employee change. BRS has achieved dramatic gains in revenues, up $745,000 over the previous four-quarter period. Net earnings also increased $53,000, and both figures represent quite an achievement for the company whose gross sales in fiscal 2000 were $2.35 million. The revenue percentage change was also gratifying placing BRS in the number 23 spot among 50 finalists. Since employment has been stable in the last year, this shows labor efficiencies are also rising sharply.

“It is very satisfying to see our company’s work recognized by those outside of our industry,” said President and CEO, Mark Thomas. Commentators Kris Patrow and Dean Staley of KSTP television introduced Thomas with a focus on the company’s proudest achievement of saving 134 lives (as of the date of award). Thomas collected the award on behalf of the employees and the board of directors of BRS, Inc.

Based in South St. Paul, Minn., BRS, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets unique and proprietary ballistic parachute systems that lower aircraft to the ground in the event of an in-flight emergency.
