Yet another reason to avoid Signature FBOs

From the NBAA web site (http://www.nbaa.org/http://www.nbaa.org/) (emphasis added):

SIGNATURE FLIGHT SUPPORT REQUIRES HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

Citing the loss of their war risk insurance, Signature Flight Support is requiring Part 91 customers to sign an http://nbaa.org/sig_indem_20010924.pdfIndemnification Agreement for Acts of War & Terrorism, which limits Signature’s liability and forces any disputes to be settled with binding arbitration. Signature states that unless customers sign the agreement, no services will be provided. NBAA urges Members to contact their legal counsel before signing such a release. Because of issues associated with war risk insurance coverage at all FBOs, operators should contact their departure and destination FBOs for status and special conditions.

(Thanx and a tip of the Hatlo hat to Glenn Beltz of Pittsburgh, Pa. for uncovering this nugget.)

Does this mean I wont have to pay their outrageous fee. Great now I have a reason not to pay Signature out of this world fee for such a lousy service.

I am happy now, I am flying a nice TSR22/G

Have a great Cirrus day

I’m no huge fan of Signature, but just for the record, according to http://www.nbaa.orgNBAA’s website, as of 7 pm last night, Signature was no longer requiring customers to sign a hold-harmless agreement.

Everyone who had this type of coverage as an additional part of FBO or Hangarkeepers insurance had it revoked in the last week. I had this endorsement for some hangars I am building but as with every other policy holder mine was cancelled.

For me it was a free endorsement and my excellent insurance agent will take anything that is free. It has become a bit of headache in the last week for the ten percent of FBO / Hangarkeepers policyholders that had it.

At this point, this type of insurance endorsement (war and terrorism et al) is unavailable at any price. LAX, Atlanta Hartsfield and Ohare can’t get it either. The request for an indemnification by Signature is a bit of an over reaction and it seems their lawyers are freakin’ out. No big surprise there!

TSR22/G?

Is this what you put on your flight plan? Just curious what the “T” is for…

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the update. We’ll just have to revert to all the old-fashioned reasons to avoid Signature.

Cheers,

Roger
