Hello All! I received great news from my home airport! There will be a hanger opening up in the fall and I’m next on the waiting list!
I’m in need of a tug to easily move my SR22 in and out of the new digs! Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Ask 10 different people, get 12 different options. Best Tugs has different models depending your budget.

I’ve been researching this heavily myself and everything pointed me to the Best Tug B5, although several other models would also work. The A3 is the cheapest Best Tug that works but doesn’t work as well as the B models. The B4 works but the handle doesn’t fold and if it’s slippery (snow), it struggles. The B5 folds and can handle all conditions. B5 is $7,300 plus shipping. B4 is $5,800 plus shipping. A3 is $3,800 plus shipping. Prices as of this week. I have no affiliation with Best Tug, just happened to price them myself this week.

I went with the BRACKETT TH-6. $650 from Aircraft Spruce. I hook it up to my side-by-side. Works great.
@Patrick_Rogers, I have a A3 that I bought used and I love it. As long as you don’t have a steep ramp to get over, and have a dry surface, the A3 is all you need. However, in Idaho, if you think you may be pulling your plane onto slippery conditions, then the B4 may be your best bet.
On Wednesday I got an email from a guy in Livermore CA selling both an used A3 and B4. His asking price was $1800 for the A3 and asking Best Offer for the B4. DM me for his phone number if you’re interested to see whether or not he’d be willing to ship it to you.

If money is not an issue then Best Tugs is what most would recommend. However, there are many tugs that will easily move an SR22. While I was deciding which tug I wanted, 6 years ago one of my COPA mentors gave me a 40EZ Tug that was at least 20 years old. It can pull up to 6,000 lbs, runs on 100LL and still works great. Although not as fancy as a Best Tugs, it gets the job done and they are currently on sale:

Best Tugs are the best without a doubt. There are several other brands available. My first hangar was a space I rented from an individual with little room for other than the bare essentials. To save space I bought a MiniMax Tug.
Been very happy with it and about 1/2 the price.

EZ40. Had mine for 22 years….on my second tire….still starts first pull. Original plug and probably original oil…

We love it when you create new topics, but if you’re a COPA member, please do not post it in the Guest forum.
For one thing, you will get a lot more eyeballs in the Member area, but there is another reason you may not know about: Every reply in the Guest forum must be approved by a moderator. Not only does this delay the responses from being posted, it’s a PITA for us moderators.
Normally if I see an active topic starting up in the Guest forum that was posted by a member I will move the topic to an appropriate category on the member side, but as soon as a non-member posts a reply I can no longer do that.

I went through this process two years ago. I ended up getting the B5 and am really happy with it. If you go that route, I recommend the light and air compressor options.
