To the contrary. So far the SR22 has speeded up deliveries for people staying in the SR20 queue, because a lot of people with near-term SR20 positions have switched to the 22.
In a more cosmic sense the rise of the 22 should speed deliveries for everyone involved, even after this initial switching effect has passed. The crucial factor limiting deliveries has been capital with which to expand the production lines. The 22 brings in higher-velocity cash flow to the company. That’s the main way they can open new lines to produce 20s, 22s, and any successor planes at the rate we’d all like.

Actually, not true. The early SR20 position holders received their planes quicker. We just received our packet to pick our options. However a couple of days ago, we received a letter saying that our plane is not going be deliverd on schedule and that they wouldn’t even be able to give us a true delivery time for another couple of months. A telephone call revealed that the SR22 is delaying the later SR20 holders. Ours was originally due in June, but it is now sometime “in the fall or so…”
Naturally it is disheartening to see a company that has used the money and goodwill of the early adopters who helped them along when they needed it most push us aside in favor of newer more profitable business. Oh well. Of course, we’ll just have to wait.
