Nice Wx Site

Hi Chris,
I’ve been using the ADDS site for about a year now. I don’t use it much in the summer, when I prefer the AOPA/DUATS and the NOAA Aviation Wx Center* sites. *(http://www.awc-kc.noaa.gov/awc/aviation_weather_center.html)
But I use ADDS a lot in the winter. The 3-D icing forecast is superb and gives much more useful info than the cookie-cutter AIRMETS.

A caution, though. The icing product is labeled “experimental” so it probably won’t get you off the “known” (a.k.a., forecast) icing hook if an AIRMET covers your area and altitude, even though ADDS says there will be no icing in your immediate area.

Chris,

This is a great site. Loads quickly and has great graphics. It lacks the kind of wind data you need for flight planning, but you can pick that up in DUATS when you file.

Good tip.
