Thank You Tyler
And because a 2025 Bonanza looks the same as a 2005 Bonanza. Textron puts no money into their piston plane market. They have abandoned it long long ago.
Thank You Daniel
After seeing the G7+ at OSH, I would agree. The long order delay in delivery (1st qtr 2027) is tough. I try to balance cost of new vs keeping Bo. Sales rep said to expect 3-5% depreciation per year for the 1st 4 years, then buy new while 1 year warranty left. With a purchase price of 1.5mil, that is 60K a year, plus I would use invested money earning a minimum of 10% (20% in 24) thatâs 150K, totaling $210K per year. Maybe my numbers are wrong, your thoughts?
If you are not dead set on colors and options, there is a wait list that can cut that lead time significantly.
Yea, thatâs sales rep advice alrightâŚ
Put down the calculator, grab the checkbook. Donât look back!
Consider joining COPA as a full member, the rumors that we tar and feather Beechcraft drivers is not entirely accurate.
First off, nothing in aviation will pencil out so Iâd join the chorus saying not to try unless you just canât resist. That said, if youâre talking 20% annual return then youâre not talking about the risk free rate. Generally, if youâre going to compare buying something to investing, you need to compare like risks. So it would be more appropriate to use the treasury rate or inflation rate to compare, not an investment that could lose some or all of your principal which anything yielding 5X the risk free rate has to fall into. Good news is that makes your number come closer to penciling out ![]()
Hans is right, I am taking delivery of a waitlist G7+ in February, and I placed an order for a Xi that will be delivered in first quarter of 2027. BTW, where are you making 10% on your money?
VTSAX is +21% YoY
Good point Kevin, Thank You
A Cirrus twin. Now thatâs a good idea.
Those are big passengers. Mt G@ TN, no AC, still has 475 available after full fuel and TXS.
Sounds like you have a good one. All the G3 T I could find with perspective TKS and AC have a useful load around 900 lbs. After 92 gal fuel and TKS you have 300 lbs left for passengers, luggage, flight bag, and misc maintenance bag (two qts oil etc). We live in TX so AC was a mustâŚ..
This is what I show for VTSAX
- 1-year: +15.60%
- 3-year: +16.38%
- 5-year: +15.10%
- 10-year: +12.97%
- Since inception (November 2000): +8.64%
Thatâs pretty good for a Subaru.
They donât. My TN was definitely not a âone-personâ airplane, even with full fuel. Iâm traveling and donât have the numbers with me right now, but I will post when I get home if I can find them.
The T or TN does not add that much weightâŚ. Itâs the summation of things
50lbs for T or TN
50 lbs for AC
40 lbs for perspective and larger alt2 system
30 lbs TKS fluid. More if G3 FIKi
XX for O2 required for T or TN
The result is optioned G3s have a 900 lbs approx useful load and 66 lbs is consumed by 11 gal more fuel capacity the G2 and G1
Just sharing the research we did when choosing a plane for our mission
Much respect to Gordon and others here
That pencils out vs my clean wing NA Gen 1. I have 1140lb UL but none of those fancy cheat codes (AC, TKS, Turbo, extra fuel, fancy avionics)
This fact and my mission outline is what drove me towards the G5 and newer⌠3600 limit.
And I was able to find a specimen that was a nonFiki / Turbo with AC⌠![]()
One other fun fact⌠seems KPAO defines pricing tiers for transient at 3500lbs⌠the G1-G3âs get $5.50/day charge. G5 and up get $7.50⌠fun timesâŚ
Yep. There is a sweet spot with the G3 NA. Mine has all the options less the TN and perspective and arrived at 1060 lbs usefulâŚ.. Now I have a hard time paying 200k more for G5T with a similar useful load. Last G5 T I looked at had 1104 lbs useful.
I flew my FIKI TN 22 one day, Utah to Seattle, full fuel, full TKS, and took a box of TKS for the trip back. Just me, light overnight luggage, I took off at gross weight. Rare day that I could take full fuel in that aircraft, if I had passengers. Great plane, but useful load was not one of its strong features. The G5 fixed a lot of that problem.
I had none of these. (G3 Avidyne non-FIKI). Just got home and I canât find my old numbers from my TN. But I never had any W&B issues at all with the airplane for any of my missions, and it was a 3400# airplane.
