ROFLMAO!!!
Just earlier today I was about to refrain from reading these posts because it’s a constant battle between who can be more right in their opinion and speculation! But this thread has been too damn entertaining to pass up. LOL
>>Hey Art, If you sell your plane will you stop posting?
No, but he will change his log-on name to “Joe Mazza.”
Dear Art,
Can you give me any details of your plane (model/ #nr / reg / where to collect it), I assume it’s a '22.
I’m also most interested in buying your plane !

I promise.
Hey now, I don’t think we should be in too much of a hurry to get rid of Art, just because we may not agree with him. [:)]
If all of us were completely in love with Cirrus (which it seems most of us, myself included, are), this forum would be a much more boring place. Although I disagree with Art and Don Rennie on some of their opinions about the Cirrus, I do value the experiences they’ve had.
Art - just curious – I know your current partner used to have a Bonanza; were you partners with him in that plane, too? If not, did you own or co-own a plane prior to your Cirrus? And if so, what (honestly) was the maintenance record of that plane like, in comparison to the Cirrus? In other words, instead of comparing your experience to what you feel would have been a “perfect” experience (to which there’s no way Cirrus could live up to your expectations), I’m curious how your experience compares with whatever previous plane you owned.

My first plane so I have no real experience. However I still think I have a rather long list of problems (some of them potentially life threatening) for a plane that is only 2 months old. Below is a comment from my partner about his Bonanza:
You know, I bought a used Bonanza, have never been able to
treat/check it as well as you—I flew it for 12 years and n-e-v-e-r- had any problems except for --replacing one fuel bladder, repairing one autopilot,
Hey guys, leave Art alone!. I made him a bona fide offer. I love my plane and I know numerous people who are nearly dying to get their hands on a 20. If he is that disgruntled, I can make two people very happy: Art, the seller, and the buyer.
As far as his opinions, he is very entitled to them. This would be boring place if it was only a Cirrus love fest. This country was founded on the principal that open discourse makes for a better community, and I support that. some of his comments, Don Rennie’s, and Jeff’s before them, have given rise to a number of interesting, informative or just plain humorous threads. As long as he hasn’t lied or been intentionally viscious, he should be welcome by us all.
Art: I sent you a private email about your plane…
Marty
Marty,
I asked Art if he was going to sell his COPA membership because I believe that Art has a sense of humor and would not take my post seriously. I think our world is a great place to hang out because of people like Art that challenge our somewhat myopic thinking.
Not to encourage you Art as I think you go overboard. But you definately add color to a board filled with men acting like hyper-hormoned teenagers chasing after the prom queen. We sometimes don’t see her faults…
Mark
Well, as the person who has often advocated restraint toward each other in personal posts, I have to say I don’t have quite such a charitable perspective.
Art’s very critical comments, to which he is entitled, have appeared on the public forum, whereas the communications could have been made as easily on the member forum.
And, I have followed Steve Lin’s suggestion and occasionally browsed the Lancair site…
Of course, people are entitled to their opinions. They are also entitled to articulate them. But in so doing, they have to understand that there may be an unfavorable reaction to their decision to communicatein a way that unnecessarily takes the differences public.
I’m bracing myself.
Andy
Here I go again again…
Andy, your post is a textbook example of what I mean by not holding Cirrus accountable, and by acting more like partners or cheerleaders than customers. What possible benefit could accure to the owners from keeping their beefs private? The only one I can think of would be to keep the resale value up by hiding defects from potential buyers, and that’s not a very honorable one. On the other hand, Cirrus benefits greatly from privacy by not giving ammunition to Lancair, and by a general lowering of public pressure to perform.
Joe: Possible benefit? Well I own a Cessna 172N, the one with the ‘horrible’ H2AD engine (anyone want to buy it?) It is the sweetest, smoothest flying 172 out there. The engine has the “T-Mod” and has always run great. Anecdotally, I’ve heard numerous examples of the engines flying past 3 and 4 thousand hours.
Unfortunately the plane’s value is about $2,000 lower than it should be due to the ‘bad’ engine. In aviation, reputations are overvalued. If I was in the market for a 172, it would be the model I would look for. Not only does it have a great engine, but it is undervalued in the market!
I have no problems with anyone posting beefs, as long as they are accurate. We should hold CDC accountable. On the other hand malicious posts, false statements and attacks are not appropriate, anytime. We all speculate about accidents. It is in our nature. But when we make up stuff, print stuff which has no factual support or is intentionally wrong about accidents, we do hurt people. (Other than the wood landing gear post, I am not referring to anyone or any post.)
I also heartily recommend that if anyone has a problem with Cirrus, call Ian, Alan or Chris. I do. That is their job. These forums, which also provide a good venting of personal problems, are best utilized to help, inform and amuse other owners and pilots.
I have heard that Cirrus reads these posts and GOOD! If they read about a problem or common complaint, GREAT! I hope they react and correct it. Then the forums provide another service which helps us all: a feedback tool for CDC. (They should probably pay us for the market research!) But none of that condones attacks or false statements.
I’m up to $1.22
Art, the deals still there…
Marty
If you can’t make an argument you attack the poster. I take that as a victory and, once again, wish you all farewell.
Carry on Art and Don.
Out.
Joe, don’t go!!! We need someone to keep us honest.
Hey, if you want another 172N with the AD engine, I’ve got one to sell (my partners and I are now firmly wedded to our SR20.) As you noted, the H2AD turned out to be very reliable once the ADs were dealt with (and the oil additive was used.) Ours has 6400 hours on it, and its last cam/lifter spalling problems were at 1500 hours back during the reign of King Ronald.
The upside is that we were able to buy it cheap, so I don’t have any problem selling it cheap.
Thanks, but what would I need with a '22 and TWO 172’s ( and an SR20 if Art decides to sell his)? Now, if you want a matched set…
Marty
