I’m getting badges that make no sense to me:
I’m not sure what’s causing these to trigger?

Discourse awards certain badges (including those you referenced) only if the qualifying posts are made in a public category, only two public categories exist on the COPA forums, Guest Discussion and Website Issues, your two recent posts in the Guest Discussion category triggered the new badges.
