When is an IO-360-ES Not an IO-360-ES?

With all of the discussion about the engine problems experienced by the SR20, I have seen nothing about the fact that the newer IO-360-ES engines are actually produced on a new production line. I have it on good, if not excellent, authority that the production line that produced the IO-360-ES engines was recently retooled and possibly reduced in production capacity. Is it possible that new tooling and production procedures could have something to do with the compression problem issue? I wonder.
