Larry,

Indeed it is. (It also functions as a plain old clock.) For details, see the Davtron web site:

Larry: The best equipment for timing approaches is the Garmin transponder. It has both count up and count down timers. It also has a flight timer which is set to count starting with a groundspeed of 35 kts. as determined by the GNS430. Voltage, at least in the SR22, is also shown on a voltmeter on the right hand side of the panel. Garmin also has a new mode S transponder available soon which will show outside air temperature and calculate density altitude. If the new transponder is installed, the only item that the Davtron shows that is not shown elsewhere is it’s clock function. To my way of thinking, the Davtron should be removed and replaced by a Goodrich AIM series 2 1/4" backup AH. The clock function would have to be replaced elsewhere as a clock is an essential instrument for IFR.
