Although I plan to monitor my hangar my own way, I saw something today which I think may be of more general interest and application.
It’s a system by http://www.xanboo.com XANBOO, which is a set of sensors (camera, water-on-the-floor, contact closures, noise monitors, temperature probes, etc., and a way to hook it all up to a regular PC so that you can (a) watch it all from anywhere else via the Web and (b) get alarms if anything goes out of kilter.
Cost of a starter-kit is about $180 (although I think I saw it priced at $150-ish at CompUSA); doesn’t include $10/month fee, PC or your connection to the Internet.
FWIW.
Mike.

Don,
You need some way to connect to the Internet - phone line, cellular connection, cable, satellite; all will work. For Xanboo to do its job, I believe it must be online at all times; but check with them.
