B17 flight (off topic)

My SR22 should be ready this fall. In the meantime, I’m treating myself to other aviation related events. This past weekend, I had the pleasure of riding in EAA’s B17 ‘Aluminum Overcast’. Biggest complaint: no stick time. But I’m still grinning ear-to-ear!

The list continues:

  • United’s Airbus 320 Sim Complete

  • EAA’s B17 Complete

  • Hayward Air Race May

  • Wings Aloft SR20 training June

  • Paris Air Show June

  • Oshkosh July

  • Reno Air Races Sept

and then our beautiful SR22 arrives… It’s going to be a tough summer!

ps. I’m flying the Archer on the cover of May’s Plane & Pilot to Las Vegas from the Bay Area this weekend. Dual 430s, STec 55, Sandel… sound familiar? If it was only 60knts faster! But this one has air conditioning (and a tight 579lbs usable!)

On behalf of no one in particular, and I feel comfortable saying this as I’ve met you –

I officially hate you.

Congratulations on the B17 ride. I hear they are amazing, though the guys I talked to who flew them during WWII said their ARNAV database was useless in Europe

Yeah, but it’s a 40-inch screen. And they need all of it for monitoring all those engines
