Torben,

I could have sworn that I saw from the ground a 737-800 take off out of Madison (I was a really long ways off) yesterday. Any chance that was Delta?

Hi Andy,

It’s entirely possible a Delta B737-800 took off out of Madison. In addition to scheduled service, most airlines offer charter deals too. Although my airline, Sun Country is based out of Minneapolis, we sometimes fly college sports teams around the country, for example.

The B737-800 can get in and out of relatively short strips with it’s 27,000 pound thrust engines. At Madison, a pilot could practically do 3 touch and go’s!

Ciao,
Torben

That’s interesting, Warren. Thanks for the link. [:)]

Torben,

Sorry. When I scanned your page looking for the airline you work for I missed “…was under the close supervision of Jim Gabriel, an experienced Sun Country IOE instructor,” and saw “Finally snowing today, the Delta Airlines flight to Utah was postponed indefinitely.” instead. Whoops. Should have dawned on me that the Delta trip was as a passenger to visit your grandpa. [:)]

Thanks for the information! I may very well have seen a sports charter. The -800 must be a blast to fly!
