Auto altitude adjustment

I plan to contact Cirrus to ask what the factory stance is on the issues of Leaning;

Since the process is semi or fully automatic

what are the complications of following
old timers advice on the process of leaning a normally aspirated Continental engine?

One thing I’ve noticed since the old days

of summer flying is that every good ol boy

around the hanger has his own idea on how to hot start a Mooney; or lean out an engine

or Set up for that high mountain departure

etc etc ; ; My moneys are the Cirrus boys

Do what the POH says, not what the old timers say–they didn’t build your engine, and engine operation seems to be one of those voodoo subjects that takes on righteous overtones.

The compensation is semi-automatic; with the red knob full forward it’s close enough, and you can lean it the old fashioned way once you’re in cruise.
